My crossbow won’t shoot

🛑 I can’t cock the string

If the string doesn’t latch into the mechanism, it’s very likely that:

➡️ The safety is engaged, which blocks the cocking process.

What to do?

  1. Disengage the safety (usually a small button or lever)
  2. Insert a bolt into the rail if the safety won’t disengage directly
  3. Once the safety is off, remove the bolt and you should be able to cock the crossbow normally

⚠️ I’ve cocked the crossbow, but it won’t shoot

In this case, the dry-fire safety system is protecting you:

➡️ The crossbow won’t fire if there’s no bolt in place.

This safety is crucial to prevent a dry fire, which can:

  • Snap the string
  • Damage the cams or limbs
  • And in some cases, make the crossbow unusable…

➡️ Simply insert a bolt properly into the rail to deactivate the safety — you’ll then be able to shoot normally.
